April 22, according to foreign media reports, the Bluetooth SIG (SIG) said on Tuesday the Bluetooth 4.0 specification has been the basic shape and it is expected to release the second quarter of this year.
Consists of three sub-standard Bluetooth 4.0, Bluetooth technology that is traditional, high-speed Bluetooth and the new low-power Bluetooth technology. Bluetooth 4.0 improvements are mainly in three aspects, battery life, the types of energy conservation and equipment.
In addition, Bluetooth 4.0, the effective transmission distance is also improved. Currently, Bluetooth's effective transmission range of 10 meters (30 feet), while Bluetooth 4.0, the effective transmission distance can reach 60 meters (200 feet).
SIG said that a complete Bluetooth 4.0 specification will be completed on June 30 this year, while Bluetooth 4.0-based device is expected to market late this year or early 2011.
